Description for B&B:

The Manoir de Malagorse is located in the picturesque countryside of the Lot, just outside the small village of Rignac. Nearby, the charming medieval village of Martel offers a variety of restaurants and shops, only a 10-minute drive away. This makes the Manoir an ideal base for exploring both the Dordogne Valley, with its famous attractions like Sarlat, Domme, and Chateau de Beynac, as well as the historic sites of the Lot, including Rocamadour, Gouffre de Padirac, and Carennac.

The Manoir itself is bathed in natural light and decorated with furniture and objects sourced from local Brocante markets by owners Anna and Abel. The heart of the house is the kitchen, featuring a handmade, immense cooking range and a large farmhouse table for indoor dining. Breakfast is a sumptuous affair, with fresh juice, fruits, homemade yogurts and muesli, freshly baked pastries, homemade jams, and aromatic coffees and teas. Dinner is a four-course meal served in the courtyard, weather permitting, with Anna's attention to delightful table settings and Abel's focus on fresh produce and light, aromatic flavors with a touch of Provence. Regional wines are carefully selected to complement each meal, and a comprehensive à la carte wine list is also available.

The living room provides a cozy space to relax, with leather armchairs and a selection of interesting coffee table books. The Manoir offers five individually designed bedrooms, all thoughtfully decorated with luxurious French fabrics and locally sourced furnishings. Each room offers the comforts of home, including fresh garden flowers, crisp white bed linen, fluffy bathrobes, and toiletries from Coté Bastide.

One of the bedrooms, Chambre Bleuet, is exceptionally spacious with a double bed and unique atmosphere created by dramatic high ceilings and wooden beams. Chambre Jonquille is a beautifully proportioned twin-bedded room that can be converted into a double, featuring an intricate beamed ceiling and wrought-iron day bed. Chambre Coquilicot is an exceptionally large and light double bedroom with an adjoining dressing room equipped with a single bed, suitable for families. Chambre Violette is a double bedroom flooded with light, featuring an ensuite bathroom with an integrated shower and bath, a sofa, and a fireplace. Lastly, Four à Pain (The Bakery) is an independent cottage with original features, including a vaulted oven, antique terracotta tiles, and oak beamed roof structure.

Outside, the Manoir is surrounded by 3 hectares of peaceful countryside and offers breathtaking views. The swimming pool is located in a large meadow, complete with comfortable teak sunbeds. An elevated terrace with teak furniture provides a perfect spot for afternoon tea or early evening drinks.

There are plenty of sporting activities available nearby, such as canoeing down the Dordogne River to explore historic sites and enjoy the beautiful scenery. Anna and Abel can even arrange a gastronomic picnic for you. The region is rich in historical sites and natural beauty, with popular attractions including Chateau Castelnaud, Beynac, Les Grottes de Cazelle, and Gouffre de Padirac. Medieval towns like Sarlat and Domme are also worth a visit, as well as the famous cliffside village of Rocamadour. For garden enthusiasts, there are several stunning gardens to explore, including Les Jardins du Manoir d'Eyrignac, Les Jardins du Chateau de Marqueyssac, Les Jardins de L'Imaginaire Terrasson, and Les Jardins du Chateau de Hautefort. Wine lovers can seek advice from Abel on which vineyards to visit in Cahor or arrange a private tour. Additionally, there are attractions specifically for children, such as the animal park in Gramat or the prehistoric park in Rocamadour.

Throughout your stay, Inés and Louis are available to provide advice and guidance to help you make the most of your time in the region.

Directions

Continue straight through Souillac in the direction of the autoroute (A20). At the first roundabout, turn onto D820 towards Cressensac. The road will gradually ascend a hill and transform into a dual carriageway. Once on the dual carriageway, take the first right turn, following the sign for D103 Eglise de Rignac. Proceed over the autoroute and up another hill, where the road will transition into a narrow country lane. As you approach Rignac, you will notice a small walled cemetery on your left, and the church directly ahead. Before reaching the church, after passing a stone cross on the right, there will be a right turn indicated by a sign for the ‘Manoir de Malagorse’. Take this road, and you will find us 1km further down.
