Description:

Description for B&B:

Originally constructed in 1860 by a wealthy industrialist from Paris, the Castle of Ferns stands proudly on the heights of Trouville, overlooking Deauville and offering its inhabitants a breathtaking view of the entire Côte Fleurie.

Initially designed as an elegant seaside villa with a stunning winter garden filled with exotic plants, the castle underwent significant expansions and renovations in the 1920s, resulting in its current grandeur.

Over the years, the estate has seen changes, including the division of the land, the loss of the farm and a substantial portion of its agricultural areas. Today, it consists of an impressive complex comprising the castle itself and various adjacent structures, all surrounded by a picturesque 5-hectare park.

During World War II, the castle was occupied by the German army and served various purposes, including housing for religious groups seeking refuge from the extensive destruction endured by the city of Caen, a summer camp, and finally, a convalescent home.

Unfortunately, the castle fell into disuse and abandonment during the economic crisis of the 1990s, remaining closed and sealed until it was purchased by an individual in 1997. Since then, an extensive restoration project has been undertaken to erase the remnants of its troubled past and revive the estate's former charm and character.

Now, thankfully saved from neglect, the property welcomes guests and friends to experience the enchanting allure of this dormant beauty. Its passionate owners are delighted to share the castle's rich history and unique atmosphere with all who visit.
