Description for B&B:

This particular house, known as a maison particulière, features four incredibly spacious guestrooms, each uniquely designed with private shower rooms and breathtaking views that are perfect for painting. Previously the residence of the Duke de Lévis-Mirepoix, the house exudes charm and character, highlighted by a stunning gallery adorned with stained glass windows, Rococo plaster, and decorative tiles. Located in the delightful bastide village of Léran, which dates back to the 13th century, the village is dominated by the impressive chateau of the duke. Le Castelou offers various art and film-making activities, including a range of courses suitable for all skill levels, as well as painting easels, studios, and digital media facilities. The décor of our four bedrooms is carefully designed to create a sense of spaciousness while emphasizing the beauty of shapes and angles within the rooms. Le Belvédère boasts its own private balcony accessed via a staircase, providing a breathtaking panoramic view. It is the perfect spot to savor an aperitif while admiring the architectural beauty of the Chateau, the picturesque church of Léran, or the magnificent Pyrenees mountains. La Belle Pyrène is a spacious room with stunning views of the Pyrenees mountains, allowing for ample warm atmospheric light in the afternoons and evenings. Even the ensuite shower room offers a delightful view over the village rooftops to the Pyrenees. La Suite Léran consists of two interconnected bedrooms with double and single beds, providing a flexible space for couples, families, or friends. It also features a private shower room and overlooks Cours St Jacques, a part of the ancient pilgrimage route along the Pyrenees from France to Spain known as the Camino Santiago de Campostella. La Suite Castelou is a generously-sized room with its own salon area, en-suite shower room, and separate private WC. With over 50 m2 (550 sq ft) of space, this suite is ideal for those who appreciate room to stretch out. The windows, situated at tree-top level, offer splendid views of Cours St Jacques and the Pyrenees.

Directions

To get to Mirepoix from Blagnac/Toulouse, take the A61 on the peripherique and follow signs for Carcassonne, Barcelona, and FOIX PEAGE (not Foix RN 20). After passing the toll booth on the A61, look for the A66 fork towards Andorra. At the next toll booth, the road merges with the N20 towards Foix. Take exit 6 towards Mirepoix and Lavelanet. Join the D119 towards Mirepoix (first exit on the right at the roundabout), passing through Les Pujols, Rieucros, Coutens, and Besset before reaching Mirepoix. At the first roundabout on the outskirts of the town, continue straight. At the second roundabout, turn right onto the D625 towards Lavelanet.

From Carcassonne, take the D119 towards Mirepoix. Continue through Montréal and Fanjeaux towards Mirepoix. After crossing the bridge, follow signs for "toutes directions". At the second set of traffic lights, turn left and then go straight at the roundabout onto the D625 towards Lavelanet.

Pass through the village of La Bastide de Bousignac before reaching Aigues-Vives (approximately 8 minutes). When you see the sign for Aigues-Vives, slow down and indicate left because the left turn to Léran is hidden behind some buildings on the left side of the road. This is the only sign for Léran. Follow the road (D28) directly to the village, which is about a 4-minute drive.

After passing the church, turn right onto cours St Jacques. The mairie/school will be on the left. Le Castelou, located at number 8 Cours St Jacques, is the next building on the left, just past the little crossroads. The house is pale yellow with white outlines around the windows.
