Description for B&B:
Situated at the northern end of the stunning Gorge la Pierre-Lys, Les Eaux Tranquilles is located 320 meters above sea level on the outskirts of the charming village of Belvianes et Cavirac. The village lies 200 meters below the winter snow line, making us the perfect destination for both summer and winter vacations. Our ideal location places us midway between the cities of Carcassonne and Perpignan, with both airports serving the UK, Belgium, and Ireland just a 40 to 50-minute drive away.We have created a warm and friendly environment at Les Eaux Tranquilles, offering a sanctuary for our guests to unwind from the stresses of everyday life. Our private park provides a tranquil setting where guests can relax by the river Aude, enjoying a bottle of wine accompanied by the soothing sound of the flowing water.
During the summer, we frequently host barbeques on our terrace, allowing our friends and guests to mingle and soak up the wonderful ambiance of the Pyrenees mountains. The nearby town of Quillan, just 4km north of us on the D117, offers a range of amenities including restaurants, bars, shops, banks, a railway station with connections to Carcassonne and the rest of Europe, a coach station with links to Carcassonne and Perpignan, a tourist office open year-round, and a main post office. Quillan also hosts outdoor concerts in its two squares during the summer, and the international folk festival visits for two weeks in July. Belvianes itself holds its own three-day fete with live music and entertainment.
The region is known for its abundance of vineyards and caves where visitors can sample and purchase local wines. A short drive away is the town of Limoux, famous for producing Blanquette, the first ever sparkling wine in France that predates champagne.
The ancient Cité of Carcassonne, with its magnificent spires that inspired Walt Disney, is just a 50-minute drive away. In July, the Cité hosts a spectacular fireworks display that attracts visitors from around the world.
Our grounds encompass a large 0.75 hectare/2 acre private park, bordered by the river Aude. The river is renowned for its trout and salmon, and even had a visit from Robert Redford, who stayed nearby and was inspired to adapt the book "And a River Runs Through It" into a famous film of the same name, which he directed. Every other year, the Tour de France passes at the top of our road.
A short three-minute walk from us is our local Auberge, which offers reasonably priced meals with outside seating during the summer. It's an ideal spot to enjoy a meal, drink, and watch the Tour de France.
There are several picturesque lakes nearby where guests can swim or have a picnic. Being in the South of France, we are within an easy hour and a half's drive to the beautiful Mediterranean beaches, characterized by long sandy stretches unspoiled by high-rise hotels commonly found in Spanish resorts. Visitors can also take the coastal road to Spain and explore the small French fishing villages nestled in charming bays. Fresh fish can be brought back to cook on our barbeque, accompanied by an excellent bottle of Languedoc Roussillon wine.
Our idyllic setting at Les Eaux Tranquilles is why we choose to call this place home. We are committed to providing the highest level of customer service to ensure that your stay, whether for one night or two weeks, is as enjoyable as possible. Don't just take our word for it – read our guests' comments to see what they have to say.
We welcome guests of all nationalities and offer secure parking in our grounds, as well as a secure garage for touring motorcycles and cyclists, who are always welcome.

Directions
Directions from the north:
If you are driving all the way, take the Autoroute A61 to Carcassonne and exit at Junction 23. Follow the signs to Limoux, which will be the D118 road.
If you are coming from the airport, turn left out of the airport, but note that it is not allowed (unless the French person in front of you does it!). Instead, turn right, go up to the roundabout, and come back on yourself. Just past the airport (which will be on your left), there is a right turn with a sign to Limoux. Follow the signs to Limoux, and you will pass the Autoroute junction 23 on the way.
Continue straight through Limoux in the direction of Quillan on the D118. When you reach the first set of traffic lights in Quillan, you will be 4km away from our B&B. Drive straight through the lights, and the road number will now change to the D117 (although you may not notice). At the second set of lights, continue straight on. After about 2km, you will see a big sign on the right that says "Les Eaux Tranquilles." Keep going, and you will pass the Auberge du Chalet on the right. Our B&B is the next left turn, clearly signposted on the corner with Les Eaux Tranquilles.
Directions from the south:
Unfortunately, we are unable to put up any signposts in the area due to its outstanding natural beauty. Therefore, you must drive down the D117 to Axat. At the roundabout in Axat, which features life-size sculptures of local bears, continue straight over and enter the gorge. Please drive no faster than 50kph as there are some sharp bends. As you exit the gorge, you will see a large car park on the right, followed by a staggered crossroads with Cavirac to the right and Belvianes to the left. Continue on for about 50 meters and then turn right. There will be signs with Les Eaux Tranquilles on the corner.
If you get lost or encounter any problems, please call us.
