Description for B&B:
"The true paradises are the ones we have lost," said M. Proust. After staying at home, you cannot express yourself like Proust.Dating back to the eighteenth century, the country villa "Il Palazzotto" used to be the farm of an Etruscan village nestled in the picturesque landscape of the Sienese hills. Surrounded by cypress trees, castles, olive groves, and vineyards, this location is 30 km from Siena, easily accessible, and allows you to explore the wonderful places in Tuscany with ease. The region is known for producing the famous Brunello di Montalcino wine, and it is also dotted with charming villages and monasteries along the historic "Via Francigena" route that connected France to Rome.
Our villa comfortably accommodates 12 people with its 6 spacious double rooms and 6 bathrooms. On the ground floor, you will find a large living room, a well-appointed kitchen, and a spacious lounge, all opening onto a panoramic terrace overlooking a beautiful garden filled with flowers and plants, including a wisteria pergola. (You can find a video of the villa on Youtube under "Il Palazzotto Siena").
Here, you can dine in a romantic atmosphere, illuminated by candlelight, and enjoy the contact with nature while admiring the breathtaking panorama that inspired Leonardo da Vinci. We also have another lovely terrace at a higher level, complete with a pool and a landscaped sundeck.
The property stretches over 42 acres of woods and Mediterranean vegetation, forming part of a natural park with a green route where you can explore the rich flora and fauna.
At "Il Palazzotto," we offer our guests the expertise of the owner and qualified staff, who are always available to provide information about the area, including cities, roads, farms, and castles. We take great care in our kitchen and offer you the opportunity to savor typical local dishes and products prepared by the owner, such as Tuscan bruschetta, zuppa di farro, tagliatelle ai funghi porcini, fiorentina steak, pecorino cheese from Pienza, Montalcino Brunello wine, extra-virgin olive oil from Tuscany, ricciarelli, panforte, and more.
This historic house has been fully restored and renovated, preserving the traditional Tuscan style. On the ground floor, you will find the living room and a cozy lounge area with two fireplaces for your relaxation. Telephone, fax, and internet connections are also available for our guests. From the ground floor, you can access the garden terrace or head up to the first floor where the six bedrooms are located.
The owner has furnished the six spacious bedrooms with taste and quality furniture, ensuring a comfortable stay. Each room offers a splendid view, and the corner rooms have private bathrooms with showers, bidets, and modern amenities. All the rooms feature double beds, and one of them also has an additional single bed. The two central rooms boast canopy beds, while the other two have twin beds. A shared bathroom with a shower is located down the hall, and there is an additional bathroom on the ground floor.
Thanks to its central location, you can easily visit Florence, Siena, and the surrounding areas. Within an hour or so, you can reach most cities in Tuscany and Umbria, including Assisi and Perugia. Rome is also just 200 km away from "Il Palazzotto." Our region is renowned for its rich history and natural beauty, boasting the Renaissance art of Florence, the Gothic architecture of Siena, and the Etruscan and Roman ruins that define our cultural heritage. Additionally, destinations like Montalcino, Montepulciano, Pienza, and Monteriggioni are worth a visit. Museums, abbeys, monasteries, Romanesque churches, and Roman baths add a special charm to your exploration. Places like the Abbey of St. Antimo in Montalcino with its Gregorian chants, the Abbey of Monte Oliveto Maggiore with its Renaissance frescoes by Sodoma and Signorelli, and the enchanting ruins of the Gothic Abbey of St. Galgano complete your journey through the region. The diverse and captivating landscape of hills, vineyards, olive groves, woods, and fields, which change colors with the seasons, will leave a lasting impression on your memory, just as Proust would say.
