Description:

Description for B&B:

The De Battisti family constructed this house in the late 17th century, making it the only Patrician-style residence in the district at that time. Throughout the centuries, it attracted numerous notable individuals, including Count De Boissieux, Count de Marbeuf, Viscount de Barin, and Sir Gilbert Elliot, the viceroy of Corsica.

In the 19th century, the house underwent a transformation into a luxurious hotel, catering to esteemed guests like Gustave de Flaubert, Joseph Multedo, the Duc of Orleans, and Prosper Mérimée. After the closure of the hotel, this magnificent property was left abandoned for many years.

Today, our family has fully restored and converted the house into a guest house called A Casa Reale, providing a tranquil retreat in the heart of the city. The property offers a large terrace with stunning views of the sea and nearby dock, a spacious 70 square meter living room featuring an impressive bookshelf, a cozy relaxation area for watching TV or playing games, and a grand piano from a Prussian factory dating back to 1904, originally gifted to Belgian King Leopold.

The restoration of the house was carried out meticulously, with a commitment to preserving its authenticity and capturing the essence of its original patrician style. From the choice of craftsmen to the selection of materials, every detail was carefully considered, resulting in handmade terracotta tiles, restored mouldings by a skilled plasterer, and century-old cement tiles. The blend of modern and antique furniture creates a harmonious and unique atmosphere.
