Description:

Description for B&B:

Around 1850, Jules Romain Alexandre Cloud, a carpenter, purchased the dilapidated cider press in the village of Saint-Siméon. He ingeniously constructed a cement spillway with vanes and a short canal to direct the water towards the wheel of his sawmill, which he positioned perpendicular to the cider press. The sawmill's structure is unique, featuring twisted, vaulted, and knotty beams, unlike anything he would have built for his clients. It was only later that he added his own house to the property.

In 1955, an antique dealer and fresco teacher acquired the "Moulin de Mizande" estate. He painstakingly restored the circular trough, the wooden mechanism, the millstone of the crusher, and the large gear with its box-wood teeth. Furthermore, he adorned the place with intricately carved wooden panels, alcoves, fireplaces, and staircases from the 17th century. The name "Moulin de Mizande" originates from the spring that emerges in the field, not far from the one created by Sanctus Simeon the Stylite when he preached in Gaul in the 4th century.

During early April, the surroundings of Moulin de Mizande are adorned with a rare type of anemone (ranunculaides), which has disappeared from the rest of the Ile de France. As a result, the Museum National d'Histoire Naturelle has cataloged the plant life in this unique location.

The current owner has constructed a parking lot, a garage, and a porch, while also restoring the wheel and vanes, expanding the stables, renovating the house's attics, and enhancing household comforts. All of these improvements have been carried out with utmost respect for the original ambiance of the surroundings.

At Moulin de Mizande, we offer our guests tranquility, relaxation, and a warm welcome within the meticulously preserved environment of this truly exceptional place.

So why not take a moment to explore our website, succumb to temptation, and come witness the magic for yourself?

Directions

To get to "Moulin de Mizande" from Paris, take the A4 East Highway towards Nancy Metz. Take exit 13 towards Provins and Villeneuve le Comte.

At all the roundabouts, follow the signs for Provins until you see the first indication for Coulommiers and Mauperthuis at the Pézarche roundabout. Take the third right onto D402 and continue towards Coulommiers.

Continue through Mauperthuis and at the next roundabout, take the first right to continue towards Coulommiers. At the following roundabout, take the second right onto D.934 towards La Ferté Gaucher, Vitry le François, and Sézanne.

Keep going straight at the traffic light in Chailly en Brie, and after approximately 5 kilometers (3 miles), turn left towards Saint Siméon. Follow the road signs for "Chambres d'hôtes" (guest rooms).

Once you reach the village, turn left towards Charcot (follow the sign for "Chambres d'hôtes"). After 200 meters, turn left just after crossing the little bridge over the river (look for the sign for "Chambres d'hôtes").
