Description for B&B:
Our house, named Ygeia or Hygieia after the Greek Goddess of Health, is a place where we always feel great. We fell in love with this charming traditional French country house in 2009 and have put in a lot of effort to make it our own. While we have done most of the work ourselves, major constructions like the pool have been done by professionals, which is why it has taken some time. In order to cover costs and share this amazing place with others, we have decided to rent it out as a gite. We truly hope that you will have a wonderful time and enjoy the property as much as we do!Upon arriving, you will be greeted with warmth and hospitality in our lovely home. We have preserved the old-fashioned charm of the house while adding modern fixtures to ensure your comfort. Whether you choose to spend time outside on the exceptional river terrace, explore the lush green garden, or relax inside the cozy and comfortable rooms, we are confident that you will fall in love with the house just as we have.
Flaujagues, where our house is located, is only 15 kilometers away from the famous medieval village and vineyards of St Emilion, a designated UNESCO world heritage site. Additionally, we are 50 kilometers away from Bordeaux and about an hour and a half from the stunning Atlantic coast and the Bassin d'Arcachon, known for its beautiful beaches and oysters. Not to mention, we are also close to the renowned Medoc region, famous for its excellent wines. Flaujagues lies in the Entre-deux-Mers region, which is famous for its wines and vineyards, as well as its fabulous medieval villages and multitude of hiking trails. For golf enthusiasts, there are four golf courses nearby.
This region of southwest France is a true gourmet paradise. From Michelin-starred restaurants like the Hostellerie de Plaisance in St Emilion to local gems like La Puce, a restaurant frequented by vineyard workers, there is an incredible diversity of tastes to explore. Whether you're craving a juicy steak or local delicacies like la Lamproie (a local fish), pigeon, or oysters from Arguin, the choice is yours. We would be delighted to provide recommendations and point you in the right direction. And if you enjoy cooking, we can guide you to the best places to shop for top-quality products and wines.
In terms of accessibility, we are conveniently located between two international airports. Bergerac Airport, which is only 40 kilometers away, offers connections to England with Ryanair. Bordeaux Merignac Airport, located 50 kilometers away, is another option for travelers.
We are excited to welcome you to our home and share this beautiful experience with you. We hope that you have a fantastic time and create lasting memories in this enchanting setting.
