Description for Gite
Welcome to our guesthouse in Charente Maritime, located near the beautiful coastal city of La Rochelle on the Atlantic coast. Our independent guesthouse offers a high level of comfort and is situated within a closed property surrounded by trees and a large swimming pool. The guesthouse is suitable for four people and spans 60 square meters. The spacious living room is well-exposed and includes a cozy lounge area with a TV and fireplace, a dining area, and a fully equipped kitchen with an oven, microwave, dishwasher, and washing machine. The living room opens onto a large terrace overlooking the swimming pool, complete with comfortable sunbathing armchairs.
There are two bedrooms in the guesthouse, one with a 140cm bed and the other with two 90cm beds. There is also a bathroom and separate toilet.
Our location in Charente Maritime offers a typically sunny climate, comparable to the Mediterranean coast but without the strong winds like the mistral or Tramontane. The guesthouse is situated in the small village of Poléon, a part of the Saint Georges du Bois commune, conveniently located near Surgères, which has a TGV train station and all necessary amenities.
Paris is approximately 400 km away via the toll road, and La Rochelle and Rochefort are both just 30 km away. Poléon is also situated on the border of the renowned "Green Venise," a famous part of the Marais-Poitevin. The charming Island of Ré, with its local harbor and sandy beaches, is only a 30-minute drive away.
During your stay, you can enjoy various activities both on-site and in the surrounding area. On-site, you can swim in the 12m x 6m swimming pool, play ping-pong or 'pétanque', and engage in other outdoor activities. You can also take short trips on foot or by bicycle in the Aunis county and enjoy tennis and horse riding in Saint Georges du Bois.
In the surrounding area, you can visit the Venise Verte and explore it by boat, canoe, or bike. There are also nearby beaches offering activities such as sailing, surfing, and funboarding. Other activities in the area include bowling, fishing, karting, and an 18-hole golf course.
For day trips, you can explore the islands by car, such as Île de Ré and Île d'Oléron, or by boat to Île d'Aix and Fort Boyard. You can also visit the cities of La Rochelle, with its old town and harbor, and Rochefort, known for la corderie Royale, la Pierre Loti house, and the Hermione construction site. Additionally, you can explore Chatelaillon and its beach, aquatic center, and casino. The Aunis county and nearby Saintonge county also offer numerous historical and cultural sites to discover.
We invite you to enjoy a memorable stay in our guesthouse and explore the beautiful surroundings of Charente Maritime.
