Description:

Description for B&B:

The renowned King of France, Saint Louis, embarked on a mission to reclaim the region of Aquitaine from English rule, a territory that had been under their control for several centuries. In 1638, the lord of Mouillepied, known as the "seneschal," was required to pay homage to the Count of Taillebourg.

During the 18th century, Château Mouillepied underwent expansion under the supervision of Guillaume Clairins des Lauriers, a knight of Saint Michel and the chief engineer of the Rochefort Arsenal. This transformation resulted in the creation of a charming classical house, complete with terraced gardens and ponds enclosed by beautiful stone walls.

The name "Mouillepied" originates from the numerous springs found on the property. Situated just two kilometers away from the picturesque historic village of Taillebourg, famous for the Battle of Taillebourg in 1242 immortalized by Delacroix in 1837.

We currently have 14 guests online. Feel free to write to us if you have any inquiries or need assistance.
